Mecanismos de gestión económica en la administración de ingresos equivalentes a un salario mínimo mensual vigente (SMMLV) en los hogares de la Vereda Betania, Mocoa, Putumayo
(2025-11) Edith Gabriela Goyes Chamorro & Yubeily Yulieth Reinoso Correa
This research analyzes the economic management mechanisms used by households in the Vereda Betania, located in the municipality of Mocoa, Putumayo, whose income corresponds to the Legal Monthly Minimum Wage (SMMLV). Based on structured surveys and a comparative review of national and international literature, the study identifies the predominant financial practices, the limitations in income management, and the opportunities to improve the financial sustainability of families. The results show that most households rely on informal mechanisms to manage their resources, lack formal financial education, and experience structural difficulties such as insufficient income, unexpected expenses, and limited saving capacity. Although some families manage to cover their basic needs, overall economic stability remains fragile due to the absence of financial planning, irregular income, and the minimal use of budgets or expense records. The comparative analysis with previous studies reveals that the economic dynamics observed in Betania align with patterns found in low-income rural populations, where financial decisions are shaped by intuitive practices and structural conditions of the territory. Based on these findings, practical strategies are proposed to improve income management, including the implementation of household budgets, programmed saving, diversification of income sources, prevention of informal debt, and the strengthening of community-based financial education. These strategies represent viable and context-appropriate alternatives to promote greater economic stability and more responsible use of household resources.
